This may be a semi-controversial post for many in the online business/blogging world…but I’m doing it anyway!
So this has been something I’ve been pondering for a few months now…are comments necessary?! Or are they too old school?! Or what?!
I’ve since realized in the last 4-5 months I’ve only left about 1-2 comments on blogs per month. And yet on my websites I’ve gotten a few dozen real comments and hundreds of spam comments. That’s super frustrating and time consuming. And as much as I love getting comments from readers and hearing what they have to say and connecting with them further…it actually ends up being a very quick and stunted conversation. They comment, I do my best to reply quickly and with a great, in-depth comment…and then that’s usually it. Rarely do we go back to the website and comment again & keep the conversation going.
So after realizing that, I’ve realized that what I really love my readers to do, and what I naturally do instead of commenting, is social sharing. I’ve realized I naturally share great articles on social media and through emails to friends instead of commenting. I’m not sure when this shift happened in me & others…I’ve been doing the blog thing for almost 10yrs both with my own blogs/websites and reading others + commenting.
So…here at AT.com we’re switching to a social sharing model instead of comments. It just feels right at this point! Maybe they’ll be back in the future, and maybe not.
Thanks so much for reading loves! Feel free to share using the buttons below (now that comments are closed!)
